What Would a Video Game Death Race Entail?

By Rob Sutter

A death race is utilized by runners of all kinds, primarily those who are eager for a higher level of challenge. These runners can show just how much they can take when it comes to physical exertion and they are always willing to push themselves just a little bit more. The name of the race stood out to me, as I'm sure it would with many newcomers, and it's like my creativity was already put to work. I wondered what would happen if such features of this race found their way into gaming.

A death race does not deal so much physical attacks but rather sheer output of energy. You want to be able to prove that you belong in events the likes of Spartan Race but what does this exactly entail? You have to look at the normal forces of nature, such as the mud under your feet and how you can move through it. It's also worth noting that you're going to need a lot of spirit if you want to contend with a litany of other elements, fire being one of many.

The race has to be understood in terms of definition so that you may be able to translate it into gaming. As far as this form of media goes, I think that jumping is the ability which has been seen for quite some time. I don't think one feature, apart from running, is as common as this. As much as people need energy to go about this action for long periods of time, what kind of obstacles would there have to be in order to impede this sort of process?

I happen to think that fire is a great addition to such races, mainly because it lessens the oxygen and has competitors conserving what they have. While this is something that I don't see changing, how about adding walls to the races so that competitors will have to put their climbing skills to the test? Maybe there should be platforms with pits of mud below so that you have more of an incentive to be careful. These features could come about in such races, I believe.

A death race can be a great challenge for anyone to overcome, whether they are deemed athletic or not. Even if someone prides themselves on such a physical feature, they may still go about these times with some degree of challenge, I believe. People will oftentimes see where their limits are and, as a result, become driven to push themselves. Understanding where your breaking point lies can only help you learn more about yourself and it will showcase just how much energy you can put forward.
